While enjoying sweets occasionally is perfectly fine, excessive sugar exposure can increase the risk of cavities and other oral health issues. The good news is that you can still enjoy Valentine’s chocolate while protecting your smile by making a few smart choices.

Choose Chocolate Wisely

Not all chocolates are created equal when it comes to oral health. Dark chocolate is often a better choice than milk or white chocolate. It typically contains less sugar and melts more quickly in the mouth, reducing the amount of time sugar sticks to your teeth. Some studies even suggest dark chocolate contains antioxidants that may offer mild oral health benefits.
